WITH MARK ASHMORE
Spiritus Stones was built on founder, Adrian Kaleel’s practice of Vedic meditation and its ability to still the mind and offer a higher form of clarity in one’s life. “I’ve always had a fascination for Vedic practices and beliefs and how they align with modern interpretations of spirituality” Adrian explains. It’s what led him to connect with Vedic Astrologer, Mark Ashmore, to form a deeper appreciation for this ancient practice.
Mark offers Vedic astrology readings to his spiritually curious clients, teaches yoga, and enchants the world with his Kirtan music, a yogic practice of chanting mantras to calm the mind and elevate the spirit. He is an extraordinary soul with a generous spirit.
We recently caught up with Mark to gain more insight into his world…
Tell us about yourself?
“I have been studying astrology since 2000 and stumbled across Vedic astrology in 2015, which felt like the missing link in my studies or that “aha” moment where everything clicked together - it is such a profound and spiritual science of the stars. It creates clarity and often solace to those that receive a reading. I teach yoga around Sydney, focusing on the mindful/spiritually uplifting benefits. I also hold Kirtan (singing mantra) events which has led to me recording an album last year in Byron Bay called Heartlight.

Tell us about one daily ritual you cannot live without?
“I run daily along Bondi Beach and meditate on the North Bondi cliffs. It's a beautiful way to energise the day and create space for what is to come.”
How do you make space to connect with the world around you?
“Being out in nature is super important - I particularly love the ocean. Meditation and Pranayam are both helpful yogic practices. I also love nothing more than inspiring and stimulating conversations with the eclectic mix of wonderful humans I have in my life.”
Nature offers so many energetic and tangible healing resources. What is one incredibly magical spiritual practice or awakening you’ve experienced?
“I've had many awakening experiences from shamanic healings to silent retreats. But I would say being on a 21-day yoga retreat in the jungles of India with one of my favourite yoga teachers many years ago was a life altering adventure.”
We know it’s hard to play favourites but if you had to choose your favourite gemstone…
“That is a difficult decision as there are so many beautiful gemstones for different purposes and times! I would say Aquamarine, because it feels like I’m carrying the song of the ocean with me when I wear it, and Sunstone, because it brings vitality and courage.”
Words to live by…
“Where there's a will there's a way" has always served me well to live in hope and strength. The Gayatri mantra is also a beautiful chant to the sun that illuminates the soul within that I love to chant…
