TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

I like to consider myself a conscious rebel. What do I mean by that? I’m someone that questions everything. I don’t just believe what I’m told. When I am looking to purchase something I want to know where my products are made, how they are made, what’s the integrity behind the company, is it a company that is doing good in the world, what’s the energetical intention behind the making of.

I truly believe that as a collective we need to change the way we do everything. We are of nature, so we need to nourish, care for and respect nature as if it is a piece of us. The more human beings function out of sync with Mother Earth, the more we suffer. Now that sounds all very stern and serious, and the topic is serious, but change doesn’t need to be hard and burdensome. If we bring joy and playfulness into this new direction we can have a whole lot of fun, while making the world a better place. I’m not someone that wants to get up on my soap box and preach about a better way. I want to make change by being a role model, letting my actions speak louder than words. I want to inspire others to live better, live healthier and happy in harmony with nature.

I’m also a brand strategist and designer and the co-founder of luxury perfume collective Sensor.I.Am.

As a young girl I suffered from synthetic chemical sensitivity. My parents first noticed it when I had a huge reaction to mum’s favourite perfume – Anais Anais. I was 6 years old and mum would drive me to ballet class. I was always excited to go to ballet, I really wanted to be a ballerina. But by the time I would get to ballet I felt so sick and nauseous that I could barely stand. It took some time to figure out what was going on, and it was not just synthetic perfumes that I was reacting to, lots of synthetic chemicals in the house would make me unwell. In my 20s and 30s my allergies got so bad and I was eventually diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and hashimotos disease. I then went on a 15 year natural healing journey. And a big part of that was detoxifying my body and my liver from harmful chemicals. Although this journey was so challenging, today I am completely symptom free and feel better than I ever have.

Through my experience I discovered that the perfume industry is sick and it is making many of us sick. When I met my now business partner Jessica Kiely (a natural beauty and perfume expert) Sensor.I.Am was born. Sensor.I.Am is a marketplace for the best natural perfume brands in the word. Jessica and I explore the world to celebrate those artisan perfumers who are making incredibly beautiful fragrances 100% natural. We are really stringent on ensuring none of the brands we represent use any synthetic ingredients. Sensor.I.Am is a great tool for anyone wanting to switch out their favourite synthetic perfume for a natural alternative.

WHAT’S ONE DAILY RITUAL YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

Meditation. It’s what grounds me. I feel a wave of calm flood my body every day when I do my practice. This feeling is so addictive that I can’t bare to miss a day.
